The course is four weeks long and runs every Monday from 16th June to 7th July 2025. To give participants support over the duration there is a limit of just four participants.

You will be using open silk screens in conjunction with your own hand cut paper stencils to produce a selection of printed images. Perfect for absolute beginners who want to familiarise themselves to screen printing equipment and processes in a professional studio setting.

Printmaking Studio Memberships available @ £45 PCM

Holyhead Studios is offering memberships at £45 PCM, to those with some printmaking experience, to join its recently opened Printmaking Studios.

The Printmaking Studios is equipped with screen printing equipment 3 x silk screen beds A3/A2/A1 in size with vacuum, A0 size exposure cabinet, a large washout booth and 1 x plans-chest draw per member and storage space.

The members have daytime and evening access with their own keys to the building.

We are limiting the number to 12 x printmakers so there is plenty of opportunities to use the facilities, without overcrowding.

You will be required to become a Holyhead Studios associate member, with an annual fee of £20, there is also a key deposit of £25 plus a 1 x month rental deposit of £45.

leamington spa art gallery & museum

We are pleased to announce our studio holder Phoebe Hardwick has had her painting accepted to the Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum Open Competition, the exhibition is on from now until 8th January 2023.

“Last seen in 2019, the Open has been a regular and popular feature of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum’s (LSAG&M) programme since the 1930s. Open 2022 is sure to be an eclectic mix of artistic forms, with previous Opens featuring, amongst others, sculpture, photography, installation pieces, computer generated imagery and textiles.” Phoebe primarily works with oil paints.

Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize

Denise Startin, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Screenprint, 76cm x 56cm

Our studio holder Denise Startin was shortlisted for the Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize 2022. Each year the specialist Art Law & More team choose their 10 favourite artworks from Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, as a shortlist for the prestigious prize.

The pieces are then exhibited at the Boodle Hatfield offices for a wonderful evening next year celebrating the very best of printmaking, where the winner is announced.

The winner of the prestigious prize receives a 2023 solo showcase at the following year’s event, and their artwork is purchased for the Boodle Hatfield collection in Central London.

Curators Picks Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair

Our studio holder Jodie Wingham has had a terrific year at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. Jodie’s works were selected by three of the curators including Gita Joshi, an independent curator and award-winning art dealer and the host of The Curator’s Salon – a podcast and website focussing on the art world with advice for early and mid-career artists, as well as celebrated British Artist Gavin Turk and Jack Bullen, co founder of Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.

Jodie’s print featured above also won the Curator’s Salon Award 2022.
